The spectrum analyzer in some of the Broadcom chipsets is neat (Arris SB8200, SB6183, Netgear CM1000, etc) and I understand it is also accessible by the cable company as a diagnostic tool. (Seems like I heard that somewhere, anyway...) But I wonder if it also has a practical use for the customer as a way to detect ingress in premises wiring? If you were to disconnect from the cable network at the demarc and run the spectrum analyzer, is it sensitive enough for such a purpose?
