Modem: (Actiontech F2250 when problems began) Arris NVG443B - current modem
This has been happening since late august, I've tried to troubleshoot it with my friends and my ISP and we have gotten nowhere as the problem has gotten worse.
In late august I began disconnecting every 30minutes~1 hour after starting my game of choice at the time, Path of Exile. Most of the time it would just boot me to login screen, but after a few weeks it began disconnecting me in only about 5~10 minutes and causing my WAN Connection (my WAN links are still fine) to drop (internet light would go from blue to red) and not come back until I rebooted my modem/router hybrid.
At this point in time in since the middle of September, my ISP has replaced the lines to my home, the jack, the line to the modem from the jack, and the modem. The only constants I have left at this point is my ISP itself (which everything they have done comes back near perfect/perfect test wise) my cat5 run from the modem to my PC, and the PC itself. I've done a clean reformat and install of windows 10 with just the drivers updated, a browser, and the games themselves and it has made zero difference.
At this point I'm thinking its either my cat5e run of line or my network adapter on my motherboard is having issues. But, I wanted to ask here and see if anyone might know anything.
However, sometimes after I disconnect/my WAN connection goes down I get quite a few errors in my xDSL status report:

Does the Arris NVG443B Frontier router have a problem with older adapters?
Frontier gave me this new router today...said it would be "better". Hhmmm. Perhaps...except the 2 older laptops in the house, one with a Broadcom 802.11g and the other with a Qualcomm 802.11 b/g adapter, will not connect. They do not even see the network. Everything else in the house (phones, ipad, fire tv, and a newer laptop with an Intel Centrino wireless - N 1000 adapter) connected just fine. I called Frontier tech support and I swear the girl I talked to knew less than I do :( She basically gave up.
Shouldn't this router be backwards compatible with older adapters?
Anything I can do?

SBV3202
Does anyone have any comments or thoughts on the Arris SBV3202?
It's on the approved list for Xfinity.
Thinking of replacing my TM822G with it to get more channels.
Does the SBV3202/TM3202 have the Puma issue?

SB8200 32x8 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem - Monitoring Using PRTG
Hello all. A few days ago, I forked a github project called cabletools that provides monitoring for Motorola / Arris cable modems using PRTG. PRTG is free for up to 100 sensors and runs on Windows. The fork adds support for the Arris SB8200 and more advanced monitoring overall.
https://github.com/JJWatMyself/cabletools
So far the support is only for connections with 29 channels down and 4 channels up using one PRTG sensor and separate PRTG channel for the kinds of things you need to care about. This provides alerting via thresholds for when things are out of spec as well as historic. I also created a script for monitoring Uptime in a separate PRTG sensor, which has a warning threshold set for uptime less than 24 hours. I too am troubleshooting some issues at the moment and find this useful to monitor after I make changes, as well as not needing to memorize what is good and what is bad as it's not like I am a cable modem tech working with this every day.
Here is a screenshot of the 'Cable Modem Stats' PRTG sensor taken while I still had a quality amplifier (+8dBmV rated) in place. You can see I have a 10dBmV range for Downstream Power which would be fine if the max wasn't above 8 dBmV, OFDM SNR is borderline and Upstream Power is too high.
[att=1]
After taking the amplifier out downstream power came down by the exact amount of the amplifier rating, causing OFDM power, minimum downstream power and OFDM SNR to fall to values that are slightly too low. But after about 12 hours the Upstream Power came down and is now well within spec, which can also be seen. This is an indication that the amplifier isn't as transparent as you would hope for upstream. I plan to replace a questionable piece of coax next to see if that brings the min and max downstream power a little closer together as well as helping with the downstream SNR. If that doesn't help I will call Comcast for an in-site visit.
[att=2]
So, as you can see, the monitoring pretty much does the analysis for you, with respect to if levels are within spec or not and goes one step further to alert on channels that are not locked or if you start having uncorrectables.
Happy to answer any questions as well as provide versions for other up/down channel quantities. I would just need a copy paste of HTML output from the modem (Internet Explorer F12 Debugger tab) to test.

SB8200 Status Page
When I went to check the status page on my SB8200 this week this is the page I get. I have tried different browsers IE, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox. It displays the same with all of them and on every computer in the house. I also changed my lan from 192.168.0 to 192.168.1 which had no effect. Any ideas what is causing this sudden change?

New modems ?
Sooo.. It seems like its about time for a new set of modems. I was seeing some FCC activity on some boxes. Anyone know of any new D 3.1 stuff ?
I dont think Broadcom has a newer chip yet ? Or Intel ? That will be the REAALLY interesting devices. I bet Intel drops the Puma name completely.
My wish list for a modem.
SFP+ port
2.5/5/10 Gbps dual ports
Full-Duplex support
Lowest latency yet
Pie in the sky dream > Firmware a end user can update
Long term chip goal.. Multicore cpu
What other things should a next gen modem from Arris have ?

SB6190 Puma6 TCP/UDP Network Latency Issue Discussion
I wanted to create a new topic under the ARRIS Forum.. Ok going between the MSO's was getting a little painful saying the same thing..
uid://1552966 reported an ICMP latency issue, ARRIS\Intel has a engineering build that seems to have corrected that issue now lets move onto the UDP/TCP issue..
I am working on recreating what uid://1552966 reported and working with him to get the data together.. I will post when I have have things to say or respond to questions.. Please keep this discussion on topic SB6190 UDP/TCP Network Latency Issue

Arris SB8200 drops internet connection sporadically on Comcast Network
I recently purchased a Arris SB8200 Cable Modem. I was able to get it registered and activated on my comcast account without any trouble. Comcast has verfified that everything indicates no issues on their end when viewing this modem on my account. However, my internet connection keeps randomly dropping. I have tried resetting the modem and that fixes this for a short time, but then the connection drops again. I am using a Netgear R7000 router with this modem. I never had one issue when using my previous SB6183 modem. Could this be a faulty modem or a problem with my modem dropping back to Docsis 3.0. I am on the pro performance tier (100/5). Any ideas would be great.

Sb8200 status lights
Hi,
I just purchased a sb8200 so far stable connection and getting a bit more than advertised speed.
I would like to be able to turn off the status lights on the front of the modem as I could with my previous modem 6183. I do not see the option going through the status pages choices.
Thank you for your help,
Bryan

Can a wobbly wifi router cause a cable modem to indicate an error?
Can a defective wireless router cause the cable modem to indicate an error?
I'm asking, because we had many 2 to 3 minutes long outages over the last days. This morning, after the n-th restart of the equipment, I disconnected the wifi router and used a network cable to connect my laptop directly to the cable modem. So far no outage. This leaves two possible explanations:
(1) The last of many restarts made the outages go away.
(2) The wifi router is defective in a way that causes the cable modem to indicate an outage.
ISP: Comcast Xfinity
Bandwidth: 60/5
Cable modem: Arris CM820A
Wifi router: Linksys WRT54GL

SB8200 Nagios plugin check command
Hello. Long time lurker. I wanted to share with the community a script I put together for monitoring my Arris SB8200 in a Nagios environment. I am very fond of the "simple" perfdata output that Nagios plugins provide, and I had a very sleepless night, so I decided to try my hand at it.
It uses python2.6 (haven't tested with higher versions, please let me know if it works), and imports a utility called BeautifulSoup, which helps break down the HTML elements into a usable data structure.
Source is available on GitHub: https://github.com/nichols-356/nagios_sb8200
My specific setup uses Icinga2 (a Nagios fork) to do the monitoring. It polls my Surfboard every 2 minutes, and funnels the performance data into Graphite. I then use Grafana, a front-end for making pretty graphs out of many different data sources, Graphite included. The result, is a dashboard like the attached screenshot.
Let me know what you think! Also, feel free to hack away at it. I imagine it could be used for models other than the SB8200, as long as the table structure is similar.

ARRIS NVG486
I have a client that was given an Arris NVG486 by Frontier for his FiOS network. Almost all ports are closed and this keeps his new Ring 2 doorbell/cam from working properly. I can find no listing that this Router/modem is of a current generation.
Trying to set up Port Forwarding or placing a range extender in the DMZ just plain doesn't appear to work.
Any ideas?

Purchased Arris Modem, has wrong CMAC?
I purchased a modem recently for my Optimum service (to avoid renting from them). Everything seems great about it, however we had some trouble setting it up initially because apparently the sticker on the back seems to be a completely different CMAC number than the one the device is actually using.
The rep was able to figure out what it actually is and provisioned it for me, now the modem is working fine. But this got me suspicious, why would the modem have a different MAC address than the clearly printed label on it? Was it modified/hacked? Is there something I should be concerned about with that, or should I just leave well enough (it works) alone?
