TG2472 vs SVG2482AC...same device?

The Subject thread basically sums up my post: Are the Arris TG2472 and the SVG2482AC the same hardware, with the 2472 being the ISP-owned (and leased to end users) edition and the 2482 being the Retail-available to end users version? The specs for both devices look very similar, as does the outer "shell" (other than Black vs White) http://www.arris.com/products/touchstone-tg2472-cable-voice-gateway/ -- TG2472 http://www.arris.com/surfboard/products/xfinity-subscribers/svg2482ac/ -- SVG2482AC

SB6183 or SB8200?

Hey guys, I recently subscribed to Comcast (Xfinity) cable internet and am in the market for a new cable modem. I heard to stay away from the SB6190 due to the issues with its Puma 6 chipset, so taking that model out of the equation, my question is this: Is it worth the extra money to pay for the SB8200 over the SB6183? Also, are there any known issues with these two modems that I should be aware of? Thanks.

SB6183 overheating.

What do i do about this? It seems like this modem cannot carry a load. Every weekend when people are home, streaming movies, on a gaming platform, on the phone, the damn modem overheats and my internet speeds crumble. The download speeds get hit hard, the upload stays fine. What's going on? How do i fix this? I've honestly have had nothing but a bad experience with this modem since the day i got it.

Arris TG1682G bridge mode bug

Does anyone have info on whether or not this bug has been fixed somehow via firmware maybe? If you don't know what Im talking about it is that this router(when put into bridge mode) can only operate through one port(4 I think.) Anyway sometimes the modem would shut this port off yet staying in bridge mode rendering it useless, until you manually reset it. Was hoping there is a fix for it. Thanks.

picked up a 6183, and in the manual it states to hook the power cord up directly to the wall outlet... do any of you do this? will hooking it up to a UPS battery backup be just as good? & will not hooking it up directly to the wall effect its performance?

SB8200 Comcast Bridge Mode?

Pretty much what the title says. I have recently gotten an SB8200, and connected it to the comcast network this morning. I use pfsense, and would much prefer to have this modem set up in bridge mode, like my last modem. Currently I can hook up a laptop directly to the modem and access the internet, but a number of settings at my pfsense box would need to be changed to get access for my network. I can access the webpage, but currently there is no login for it, it just comes up with status information, and no access to change any settings, dhcp, bridge, etc. Are there any accessible settings for this modem?

SB8200 Webpage problems

Hello All, I just got my SB8200 today and it is working great on mediacom. They are coming out in a week to setup my 1gbit connection but right now I have their 200down and 30up connection which I am getting 270down and 50up. My issue is, I am not able to view the SB8200 status page. I get a purple page that says 404 Not Found, File Not Found. I am going to 192.168.100.1 just like my old SB6190. What might the issue be? I will say this. The modem is fast. Like what I have seen others say, websites seem to load a lot faster for me. I didn't really feel like I had problems with my SB6190 maybe I was lucky from what I have seen.

Old firmwares

Hi all, For research purposes, I need to find some older firmwares for Motorola/Arris/Pace/2Wire modems/routers. I'm mainly interested in the 2010-2014 period. Finding them is like pulling teeth. After a ton of googling I got a single copy each of Motorola 2210 and Motorola 2247, as well as several versions of Arris 589 and 599. I would like to get 2Wire 2701, 2Wire 3801 and Pace 4111n. All could find for those is a ton of references to a QWest 2700/01 firmware, which was still up on qwest/centurylink website as of 2015 but has been retired by now, and several links on bt2700hgv.tripod.com which also appear to be all dead. Does anyone know where I might find any of these, or have old backups laying around?

High Uncorrectable Counts / 60% Packet Loss

$

I was working from home today and randomly, connections started breaking (ssh, music playing, etc). Pinging 8.8.8.8 got me a roughly 60% packet loss over a 5 minute period. I have an Arris SB6190 so I went and plugged into it directly and got the same results. I happened to have a Cisco modem from Comcast kicking around, so I plugged it in and had the same results. A tech came out and found that there wasn't a MOCA filter anywhere, so he installed one, but that doesn't excuse my Arris freaking out. By the time the tech arrived, I was able to ping more consistently and so far my connections have been stable, but I see some very high uncorrectable counts. The screenshot was taken about an hour after the modem was last rebooted Anyone have any thoughts as to why this a) may have suddenly happened and b) what I might be able to do / suggest upstream from me to remediate?

Sourceforge Speedtest affected by SB6190?

I was made aware of this Open Source HTML5 Speedtest months ago. It has worked well for me and displays other results on top of the speeds. I recently put my 6190 back online to do some testing with it but am now having troubles getting the Sourceforge speedtest to actually finish the test and display the results. I had been running a Netgear CM600 without issues on that test. So I am curious if others who are running the 6190 can get the test to finish. I have gotten the test to complete a few times but generally it just seems to quit running/lockup during the download portion of the test. https://sourceforge.net/speedtest/
