SB6141 hangs

$

Recently our SB6141 has been hanging. The symptoms begin with no response from the Internet, but looking at the SB status and log pages shows nothing unusual. However, within a minute or two after getting no internet response, we can't even see the SB6141 home page (192.168.100.1) anymore. Instead we get an "unable to connect to server" message. The status lights on the modem all look good when this happens. Rebooting the modem (yanking power cord, waiting a few seconds, and plugging it back in) always fixes the problem until next time. Sometimes we can go a day or two until the next occurrence, sometimes just an hour or two. The problem started soon after adding a Lutron Caseta and an Elgato Eve weather sensor, but we've since taken them both offline and the problem still occurs. We're on Xfinity, and our router is an AirPort Extreme. We've had the modem for several years without this sort of problem, though we'd had others a while back (usually when Comcast reprovisioned the modem). We're not sure if we should just replace the modem, or call Comcast, though we're also considering switching to FIOS. All suggestions welcome.

SB8200 LAN Segment IP Addresses

I know from some of the other threads that the SB8200 has some IP segments on the private side that it currently does not like. My question is: What segments work, and what segments do not? I have some problems with 192.168.16.x (255.255.255.0) does NOT work for very long before I have to reboot modem and router to get to the web page of the modem and the spectrum analyzer. What 192.168.x.x segments ARE working?

Any notice the SB8200 is not available on amazon (other than used that is), nor through just about any other retailer, including Arris's site? Being discontinued or just a supply issue.

SB8200 failed - downstream signal too strong 25dbmv comcast

I picked up an SB8200 yesterday to replace my SB6141, which had been working fine. Did the swap, called for activation. The 8200 sat there for two hours flashing the receive light and the admin page and logs revealed no connection at all. Swapped back to the original SB6141 and re-activated it. It turns out my downstream signal strength is running at 25dbmv. It doesn't seem to affect the SB6141, but it completely overwhelms the SB8200. I proved it by temporarily using a few splitters in series to pad down the signal and it was able to lock when the strength came down to about 15dbmv on the SB6141. I need to get Comcast to come out and adjust their signal strength from the pole. Any clues on how to do that?

I have an arris sb6183 and noticed something on my modem config that doesn't look normal. Does anyone know what K4oreWright is? All my data is sent out to K4oreWright first then goes to knology. It does not show up on traceroute. I bought the modem brand new on amazon. I have WOW! Internet

2-Year old Motorola SBG6580 --Dead-- :( Never again! Recommend other brands

My Motorola SBG6580 DOCSIS 3 MODEM/ROUTER/WI-FI died and because I am not made of money I would so appreciate your replacement recommendations. It doesn't have to be state-of-the-art, it just needs to be able to 1) have robust hardware firewall protection 2) connect to the internet over my Comcast internet-only account 3) WIFI. Don't care about the speed; don't need Comcast/Infinity's phone/TV services; and since a brand I used to trust -- Motorola -- has burned me after less than 2 years of using their product I'm less than enthusiastic about an Arris-Recertified replacement with the same faulty electronics inside. :( I would also appreciate your help in understanding exactly what I should be shopping for: a 'router'? a 'modem'? a 'hub'? a 'gateway'? a WIFI? Given the parameters I just outlined, what should I be looking for on EBay? What are brands I can trust? How about Netgear? Linksys? Thanks everyone.

SB 6190 - How Bad Is It? Alternatives?

$

I'd like to buy a modem to avoid the $10 / month rental fee and want one that is compatible with the 500 mb speeds since I'm thinking about upgrading (I currently have 100). The list of officially supported modems at the 500 level is very small for my provider (see below), and the only one I can even find for sale anywhere is the SB6190. I almost pulled the trigger this morning until I saw mention of the Puma 6 problem. So how bad is it? What options do I really have? I'm currently renting a DG860P2 w/ 100mb service. It works pretty well for my computer, and a little less so with my cell phone, but our smart tv and direct tv have trouble with it while streaming HD video. Youtube on the tv will often pause for a while or even crash. DirectTV's on demand services require repeated "wait for buffering" pauses. Using the tools on this site I'm getting 110 down with A quality and C buffer bloat; A+ on jitter / ping; and a failed Puma 6 test. I really want to increase the reliability of the network for viewing video. I also work from home and use a lot of Remote Desktop and video conferencing, so that needs to work well at the same time one TV is playing Youtube stuff for the kids and the other is playing On Demand for the wife. Officially Supported Modems for the 500 mbps service: Arris CM3200A DG2470A DG3270A SB6190 TG2472G That's it. No other brands or models.

SBR-AC3200P: Router keeps rebooting (red light flashing on front)

Hey all - I picked up the SBR-AC3200P because I thought the RipCurrent technology sounded great (although I haven't used it yet), but it has turned into quite a nightmare. The most recent issue is that the router keeps resetting on me a few times a day. When this happens, the light on the router begins flashing red. After the router reboots, when I log into the interface and check the event log, here is what I see: Fri Sep 29 22:05:17 2017 info udhcpd: DHCP server received REQUEST from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Fri Sep 29 22:05:13 2017 info http-gui: ip=192.168.0.2, login success Fri Sep 29 22:04:35 2017 info udhcpd: DHCP server received REQUEST from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Wed Dec 31 18:00:54 1969 info udhcpd: DHCP server started Wed Dec 31 18:00:51 1969 info udhcpd: DHCP server received REQUEST from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Wed Dec 31 18:00:51 1969 info udhcpd: DHCP server received REQUEST from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Wed Dec 31 18:00:51 1969 info udhcpd: DHCP server received REQUEST from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Wed Dec 31 18:00:46 1969 info udhcpd: DHCP server started Wed Dec 31 18:00:44 1969 info dhcp6: DHCPv6 server started Wed Dec 31 18:00:43 1969 info dhcp6: DHCPv6 server stopped Wed Dec 31 18:00:42 1969 info udhcpd: DHCP server stopped Wed Dec 31 18:00:40 1969 info dhcp6: DHCPV6 client started Wed Dec 31 18:00:35 1969 info http-gui: ip=192.168.0.2, login success Wed Dec 31 18:00:26 1969 info udhcpd: DHCP server received REQUEST from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX The only thing that has changed recently is that I installed their latest firmware: 1.0.7-B05 Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? TG862G - Can't set in bridge mode

I am leasing an Arris TG862G gateway from ATMC (southeast NC). I have tried every post found via Google search to properly set the gateway in true bridge mode without success. My attached TP-Link WDR-3600 router only sees a private IP as the external WAN IP. If it was working properly, I would expect to see the ISP's WAN IP. Here is the HW info on the Gateway: ARRIS DOCSIS 3.0 / SIP 2.0 Touchstone Residential Gateway HW_REV: 5 VENDOR: Arris Interactive, LLC BOOTR: 1.2.1.62 SW_REV: 9.1.103S1.SIP MODEL: TG862G FW Name: TS0901103S1_012816_862_GW_SIP FW Build Time: Fri Jan 29 01:54:04 EST 2016 eSAFE 0 FW Revision: TS0901103S1_012816_ARRIS_GW I've contacted ATMC technical support and they confirmed Gateway is in Bridged mode. Is this device incapable of acting like a "cable modem only"? Should I not expect the WAN IP on my attached router to be the ISP's IP? I am able to use the internet properly on most devices attached to my router with the exception of devices that require NAT such as cameras and Skype for Business (during screen sharing). Any guidance would be appreciated. Attached is the WAN screen from my router. Brooksie

After resetting the AT&T U-verse Arris VAP2500 AP via the small reset button on the back of the unit, try the following to gain access to the device... Logon: SuperATT Password: Dc!94@B3 I looked high & low for this information and finally found it buried in a semi-ancient post on the Arris Hardware Forum but it was so old that it was closed, so I'm re-posting it here. It's worth a try, anyway...

Arris NVG443B DDNS support?

$

Hi everyone: New to the forum - helping my sis with her new Frontier VDSL service. She has an Arris NVG443B gateway. I was disappointed that we could only use IP passthrough if we wanted to use our own router, but I configured things without having to do it, which was a good thing. She has a DVR camera system, and I was able to view them remotely for a short time. I think the IP changed, however, because I can't see them anymore. That leads me to a question about DDNS. Can someone who has a 443B check and see if there's a place to put in DDNS settings? If not, I'll have to reconfigure the Netgear device from access point back to router so I can use the client there. Thanks for the help! -M

Arris TM822a Disconnects Multiple Times Daily

I've been fighting with my ISP for well over a year with frequent disconnections. It seemed they all but went away for a couple months, but now they are back worse than ever. We lose connection multiple times a day and each time we do, our Arris TM822a has the lan light on, power light on and is looping through the others till it reconnects. Sometimes it's minutes, sometimes it's hours. I don't know what else to do at this point, but sadly, they are the only ISP in our area. Here is an incident that happened about a half an hour ago. I have had this surfboard for about a year. No issues until last week. My send and receive lights changed from blue to green, and my speeds have dropped drastically, having connection issues, etc. A month ago, I changed internet packages and upgraded from 60mb down to 250mb, and was working fine until end of last week. Trying to fix this myself, I foolishly reset it back to factory specs before recording the event log. Is this a modem issue or a cable company issue?

wifi SSID name changed ?

Hi all, have an ARRIS DG860 for a couple of years. The wireless network name (SSID) has always been and still is ARRIS-15354 on the router configuration page; and was the name displayed on the laptop and phones until a couple of days ago. Then via no input from me, the SSID on the laptop and phones displays, and connects, as ARRIS-4732 . The pre configured 16 digit alpha numeric password stayed the same. Only noticed the name change because the upstairs Netgear Wireless Range Extender no longer connected. Everything is back to working after reconfiguring the extender to be the 4732 name, have not changed the router wireless network name as even though the 15354 vs 4732 name discrepancy exists, the signal is working properly. Any clues as to what happened ? thanks
