&nbsp The title says what I need. I have an NVG448BQ gateway, but I want to use it purely as a modem for Internet. I don't see anything obvious on the config screens. Can it be done?

Activated SB8200

Saturday, I was able to activate the SB8200 over the phone. I had tried in June of this year, but was unable to get it provisioned. The GUI and Spectrum Analyzer were both available. On Sunday, I tried to access the GUI and Spectrum Analyzer and they both timed out. After disconnecting the coax and resetting the modem, both were available again. So, I finally can use this modem I bought 6 months ago. I replaced a SB6190 so I see a definite improvement. I noticed that video streaming had no buffering issues as I had before with using the Charter App with the Roku.

Which 2Wire 2701HG-G AC adapter is most reliable

Hi everyone: I have a couple of 2Wire 2701HG-G modems available for use, but I wondering about the AC adapters. I know from research, as many of you do, that the AC adapters were unreliable, and that they often stopped working. Just got off the phone with Bell, who informed me there were three versions of that AC adapter, one with "2Wire" in red, another with "2Wire in white" and another labelled Pace, after Pace acquired them. Can anyone tell me if the later two models were more reliable than the first, and if so, how much more reliable? Thanks

Please help! Tech was out, long story short I felt bad. My line is fine. Customer service was telling him the sb8200 isn't on their compatibity list. Got me online but I'm stuck at my blast speeds of 200/10. It would not go to gigabit speeds. He was told by someone else that the boot file is incorrect. He said I may want to consider going to netgear cm1000. I would need to return it. He tried everything. My modem is showing the blue and 3.1. It just won't get me the speeds I am paying for. Please help. Located in Woburn Ma. Comcast gigabit*

No DOCSIS connection when Bridge Mode is selected SBG6782-AC

I set this Gateway up because I wanted the MoCA portion. But, decided to try using it in Bridged mode with my (external) Router. When I select 'bridged' mode in Basic>Setup, the device reboots, but the Docsis lights never lock on. The Up and Down lights do their normal connection dance and turn solid green (it may take longer than normal), then the Connected light flashes, but never connects. After a bit, the Down and Up lights turn off and Down starts flashing again and the cycle repeats indefinitely. Can anybody clue me in as to what's going on? It seems to work fine in Gateway mode at subscribed speeds. Thanks, -Kyle

Spectrum analyzer and RF ingress detection?

The spectrum analyzer in some of the Broadcom chipsets is neat (Arris SB8200, SB6183, Netgear CM1000, etc) and I understand it is also accessible by the cable company as a diagnostic tool. (Seems like I heard that somewhere, anyway...) But I wonder if it also has a practical use for the customer as a way to detect ingress in premises wiring? If you were to disconnect from the cable network at the demarc and run the spectrum analyzer, is it sensitive enough for such a purpose?

Well here we go agin! I have one of the above modems and need to get into it and change the DHCP setting to OFF. BUT......when I login to 192.168.100.1 and pick the "advanced" tab I get the the dreadded "password of the day"! I went down to the local charter office and tried to deal with the "office help" with no luck. They told me that the modem had NO password! Has anyone found out how to open up one of these so I can set the DCHP to off?? The Factory Rep said they have NO info on the unit per there Contract with Charter so are no help. SB8200 losing IPv4 connectivity while IPv6 works fine

I've had my SB8200 about a month with Cox ISP and have a recurring problem where IPv4 stops working but IPv6 is fine. I can only access websites that have AAAA records in DNS with an IPv6 address. Restarting modem fixes issue - restarting my Netgear Orbi router doesn't help. Prior to SB8200 I had a Netgear CM600 and never had this issue. I don't have an OFDM channel yet, my SB8200 modem is connected on 32 downstream and 4 upstream channels. I telnetted into my Netgear Orbi router to do some troubleshooting. I feel like it timed out on the three v4 resolvers in /etc/resolv.conf before hitting ipv6 resolvers and getting a v4 IP address back from v6 resolver. So at this point, I restarted my router. Didn't help anything. GUI said it couldn't connect to internet. So I restarted my modem, and then it worked! Routing tables on the router and resolv.config looked identical after restarting modem - I received same IP address from Cox. I've had this particular IPv4/IPV6 issue happen about 4 times over course of ownership of this modem (so weekly). Each time, restarted modem fixes. This last time I didn't even both restarting router. I wonder if this is related to this other problem I have with SB8200 where I can't access admin page: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31725961-Modem-Admin-page-blocked-on-my-SB8200 I called ARRIS first, they said there is nothing to configure on modem so nothing to do other than call Cox. Speed consistency issues since upgrading to SB8200

Recently, as reported on this very site, Grande Communications has launched a new 1000/50mbps, DOCSIS 3.1 based service. My old SB6183 is not DOCSIS 3.1 compatible, so I purchased a SB8200 on Amazon (thanks same-day delivery!) and called to complete the upgrade. On my old plan (400/20) my speeds were very consistent, and even over WiFi I was typically receiving 200-420mbps speeds depending on the time of day (using a Netgear Orbi with 1 satellite). Since the change in equipment and upgrade of my plan, I've noticed my speeds are extremely inconsistent. Download speeds will range from 15(!)-820mbps, although upload is generally reliable at 45-52mbps even on WiFi. I've tested the connection even directly connected to the modem, and have noticed no improvement over being hardwired to the main Orbi unit (WiFi download speeds have taken a dive, though, rarely exceeding 100mbps, but that may be unrelated to the modem as it does not provide WiFi, the Orbi does). Doing some research on the new modem, I found that Arris recommends power levels of -15 to 15 dBmV for downstream connections when utilizing QAM256 modulation, and 45 to 51 dBmV for upstream connections when using 3+ channels (as shown here: http://arris.force.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SB8200-Troubleshooting-Internet-Connectivity/?l=en_US&fs=RelatedArticle). Looking at the stat page for my SB8200, it looks like my line states are failing on both fronts, with downstream power generally at 16+, and upstream at 36 (but again, my upstream "seems" generally ok). When Grande first installed my service they did add a splitter near the modem (coax leads from the wall connection to the splitter, which then has 3 outputs of which only 1 is used to then send additional coax to the modem). The tech said the signal was too strong, which makes sense when looking at my downstream signal strength, but not when looking at the upstream strength. My question is, considering my service was perfect on the SB6183 and on the 400/20 tier using the same physical connection, is there any real chance the issue is with the modem itself, or at least being exacerbated by the modem? Does the problem as stated here, and taking into account the screenshots of my modem stat page, sound like something that would have occurred simply due to upgrading my service, and which ISP should be able to solve? I know that Linksys has their own retail available DOCSIS 3.1 modem but I don't want to jump the gun with a lot of equipment changes, not the least because I have AT&T Digital Life and any time I swap hardware it requires a tech support call to reestablish a connection to my WiFi. It may be I do not understand all of the changes that occur when moving from a DOCSIS 3.0 to 3.1 service, and that Grande will have to make adjustments on their end, it just seems odd that I suddenly having trouble using a physical connection and a provider that have both been superb up until now, with the only physical change being the modem itself. I appreciate any insight you can provide!

hello! new levels for Arris SB6183 with added 6db attenuator. how are they looking? ps: added the attenuator because downstream levels were going up to 13 dBmV in the morning. and note, this is a screenshot at just over 24hrs of it being installed.

SB8200 Gigabit Internet - Comcast Reports Local Problem

So, we've have been having the same problem as many on here - not getting the SB8200 to show the second blue light on the modem indicating it is provisioned for gigabit speed. Meanwhile, we were getting half-channel speeds about 330 mbps; not shabby, but not as expected. The modem seemed to be working properly, indicating exactly the condition and reporting the internal condition via the status page. Had two office calls, and two different techs out. Second tech went through the whole routine, including verifying proper boot file (was correct), changing a couple of connections in the house (no difference), verifying power levels in the modem via the status screen, correcting what he thought was a 5 db RF leak into the line from a local radio station. None of these made any difference. Finally, he was able to get the right person on the phone and then reported, "We are having a maintenance issue on our side. We have narrowed it down to one of three hubs, and hope to have it corrected by mid-week. The fact is no one in our city has gigabit speed right now, and even our office does not have gigabit speed." That's what I expected. Basically, in my words, 'the office doesn't have it turned on right now'.

SB6141 bad capacitors

Just thought some of you would find it interesting. My SB6141 was resetting a lot and the internet was dropping (lots of T3/T4 errors). Seemed a bit odd knowing they just re ran the main lines in the yards, and the hardware in the boxes out in the yard, and in my case they had to replace the line from the box through the yard to the house. Internet was pretty solid for a few months after that, but lately has gone to crap. Wasn't certain it was the modem but went ahead and bought an SB6183. My 7 year old loves taking things apart, so we took apart the old modem - most of the capacitors on the board were bulged/leaking at the top. Definitely was time for an upgrade.

Arris SB8200 drops internet connection sporadically on Comcast Network

I recently purchased a Arris SB8200 Cable Modem. I was able to get it registered and activated on my comcast account without any trouble. Comcast has verfified that everything indicates no issues on their end when viewing this modem on my account. However, my internet connection keeps randomly dropping. I have tried resetting the modem and that fixes this for a short time, but then the connection drops again. I am using a Netgear R7000 router with this modem. I never had one issue when using my previous SB6183 modem. Could this be a faulty modem or a problem with my modem dropping back to Docsis 3.0. I am on the pro performance tier (100/5). Any ideas would be great.

SB8200 Status Page

When I went to check the status page on my SB8200 this week this is the page I get. I have tried different browsers IE, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox. It displays the same with all of them and on every computer in the house. I also changed my lan from 192.168.0 to 192.168.1 which had no effect. Any ideas what is causing this sudden change?

Hello All, I just got my SB8200 today and it is working great on mediacom. They are coming out in a week to setup my 1gbit connection but right now I have their 200down and 30up connection which I am getting 270down and 50up. My issue is, I am not able to view the SB8200 status page. I get a purple page that says 404 Not Found, File Not Found. I am going to 192.168.100.1 just like my old SB6190. What might the issue be? I will say this. The modem is fast. Like what I have seen others say, websites seem to load a lot faster for me. I didn't really feel like I had problems with my SB6190 maybe I was lucky from what I have seen.

SB8200 problems, Comcast says no problems on their end

I'm in the Scranton PA Comcast area. Currently I'm on my second SB8200 modem with the same exact problem and no resolution from Comcast. For the past year I've been using my own SB8200, always had consistent speeds of 240 & 12mbps until about a month ago. All of a sudden my speeds dropped off to between 35 & 5 down. I contacted Comcast and they told me since I own the modem it's a bad modem which I refused to believe. They tried to sell me modem protection insurance which I refused. After about 5 calls into tech support they agreed to send a tech out. Tech showed up, saw the slow speeds and said it's my modem. I asked if he can connect one of his modems to verify and he said he didn't have any to use, I found this hard to believe but what could I say. I showed the tech the SB8200 logs and he said the logs are meaningless to him. The tech left without any resolution. Thinking it may be a modem issue I purchased a second SB8200, connected it and had it provisioned. Same exact problem. I contacted Comcast again today and explained my problem, they said they are sending another tech out but I'm responsible for the charges because this is my own modem. My own assesment of the problem is there most likely is moisture in the Comcast lines/connections somewhere and it's affecting my connection. I mentioned this to the tech, he didn't say anything other than saying it sounds logical but there's nothing he can do about it. I attached a couple pics of the SB8200 logs. Hope someone can provide some info or help with this.
