Has anyone used the Arris SBR-AC1200P or any of Arris new wireless routers? Anyone know the FCC ID? I am very curious to see the inside of it because it looks like it was designed to hold a very large, expensive, brassiere. XD

Arris SB6183 vs Motorola MB7420
Hi!
I wanted to share some research I found since I was looking for a new cable modem. You may be wondering what is the difference between the SB6183 and the MB7420. They are both 16X4 and both have a 2 year parts and labor warranty. So...how are they different? They should function almost exactly the same except it seems that the latest chipset in the SB6183 is a Broadcom BCM3383 which is an older chipset while the MB7420 has a newer Broadcom BCM3384 chipset. Actual usage may not differ noticeably but if you want the latest then get the Motorola MB7420.
I had read in another place that the earlier SB6183 got upgraded to a newer chipset (BCM3383) then it used to have and that resulted in a little better performance in the RF section so every little bit helps.
I also noticed that there is a very healthy competition going on between Texas Instruments and Broadcom in this field. Some of the other Arris SBxxxx use the TI chipset. Both the Broadcom and the TI chipsets seem very close in performance and longevity so just know that there have been more than one SB6183 released (the difference being the chipsets). The MB7420 is quite new so it may not have had more than one version released so far. It is unknown if the differences are marked by version numbers on the outside or not.
Best regards and best hunting!
EDIT: As of today the Motorola is $10.00 less at Newegg.

New SB6190=Slow Wireless
My network previously consisted of a 3-year Ambit cable modem from Comcast together with a Netgear WNDR4000 wireless router (the wireless radio's are turned off) and a Netgear R8300 wireless router, configured as an access point. I was consistently getting about 135Mbps download speeds on (802.11ac) wireless laptops, wired PC's, Iphone and Ipad. I was informed that my cable modem is no longer supported and will not get the recently upgraded bandwidth increase to 200Mbps because of the old cable modem. I replaced the Ambit modem with the Arris 6190. After a very smooth activation, I was receiving about 240Mbps download speeds on all wired connections and the wireless laptop. The Iphone and Ipad are download speeds have now been reduced to 80-90Mbps, slower that before I switched. The router setting have not changed and the wireless AP configurations are identical. Nothing has changed...did the new cable modem cause this issue??? I completely rebooted/reconfigured/=...etc to all devices, but to no avail.,,,I was using Xfinity Speedtest and OOKla...Thanks

Ping spikes - DG2470; SB6190; Requesting metrics for troubleshooting
Greetings!
EDIT: Update - 2015-01-12 (2:00 PM EST)
I spoke with an engineer at Arris regarding the issue. While it's been acknowledged that this is a problem, as of this time, I'm the only one who has reported the issue to them. My case is still open, but does not have much priority for being fixed at the moment. Some of you have commented about having similar issues - if this is the case, please take a look below and respond with your ping times, or, better yet, do that and call Arris support directly to open a case describing the problem.
As of this time, we know that the problem exists on the specific chipset used in both the SB6190 and DG2470 modem line. Anyone submitting results from either modem would be a great help. Beyond that, if this problem exists with other DOCSIS 3.0 modems, that would be great to know as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------
This is a request for assistance (or, more specifically, for output of a quick ping command). I'd like to compare results from my modems to others. Some additional details are at the tail-end of this post, but here's my request: I'd like to ask this of those of you who have either Arris model DG2470(A), or SB6190 to execute a 10-second ping against your modem from a hard-wired device (no wireless please) and report the results in a comment below.
To keep results similar, I'd ask that anyone willing to offer results use the following command, based on your OS:
For Windows-based machines:
batchping -n 10 192.168.100.1
... and, for *nix-based machines (including Mac, Linux, etc.):
bashping -c 100 -i 0.1 192.168.100.1
If you participate, please include the output of the ping command, as well as the model of modem, and firmware version if you can locate it (typically found somewhere through http://192.168.100.1/).
Note, the IP address of 192.168.100.1 is the management IP of your modem in bridged mode. I believe it works in NAT mode, so if someone with a DG2470 in NAT mode could confirm that would be awesome.
------------------------------- Details below ------------------------------
I've been working on an issue for a few weeks now that began when I upgraded to a higher speed with my ISP, which required me to upgrade modems to support the faster speed. There are a couple of posts under my name here if you care to look up the details, but I won't belabor the point. I'll just state the following:
The ping spikes / latency issues:
Occur on at least two hardware models; DG2470, and SB6190.
---> The DG2470 is owned by the ISP. The SB6190 I own (purchased new).
Present regardless of whether the modem is in bridged or NAT mode, for modems which support it.
Exists whether the coaxial cable is connected or not.
Exists across multiple ISPs (another user on this forum provided diagnostic data from his modem).
Extend into real-world connections, and are most evident in latency-sensitive applications (such as VoIP, online gaming, etc.)
For at least the SB6190, occur with the latest firmware available to me (9.1.93K).
As a quick point of clarification, the "issue" is both ping spikes, as well as a much higher-than-expected latency (direct connection pings should be sub-1ms, not 5ms - 10ms).
I also own a number of other cable modems, such as the SB6120 and SB6121, which do not exhibit these problems.

NVG353BQ Modem/Router
This router has a button on the front panel which seems to invoke WPS. There is little or no information on this product available and nothing in the setup GUI about enabling WPS. I'm unable to connect it to another router over WPS that does indeed support the WPS standard. Can some please offer input.

Arris TG1682G bridge mode bug
Does anyone have info on whether or not this bug has been fixed somehow via firmware maybe? If you don't know what Im talking about it is that this router(when put into bridge mode) can only operate through one port(4 I think.) Anyway sometimes the modem would shut this port off yet staying in bridge mode rendering it useless, until you manually reset it.
Was hoping there is a fix for it.
Thanks.

Arris Touchstone TG2472 - Disassembly
I was wondering if anyone had taken one of these apart yet? I wanted to add on a large external antenna but don't want to destroy it in the process because it's rented. There are two screws on the side which I removed and another small two screws in the bottom next to the battery compartment but the case doesn't seem to want to separate. There is a seam (with a Warranty Void if Broken sticker) on the bottom so I'm assuming it separates there somehow but gently prying on all of the edges hasn't worked.

What is going on with my 6190 modem?
I have had to reboot everything a couple of times the last several days due to loss of connectivity. Arris 6190/Zoom router. One time it appears Comcast changed things up and I got a new IP and Gateway. The other times out of the blue.
I just tried to log in to the modem and all I get is this....
[att=1]
Tried it several times. Saving the reboot for later. I still have good connectivity and speeds and posting this while still connected. Lights are normal on the modem but can't check any signals since I can't access the modem gui. I suspect all the levels are fine but just something quirky with modem or modem access through router. And a Line Quality Test shows all is well.

Is there anything wrong with these stats? Does it have to do with a new cable installation next door? Thanks.

SB6190 TCP/UDP Network Latency Issue Discussion
I wanted to create a new topic under the ARRIS Forum.. Ok going between the MSO's was getting a little painful saying the same thing..
uid://1552966 reported an ICMP latency issue, ARRIS\Intel has a engineering build that seems to have corrected that issue now lets move onto the UDP/TCP issue..
I am working on recreating what uid://1552966 reported and working with him to get the data together.. I will post when I have have things to say or respond to questions.. Please keep this discussion on topic SB6190 UDP/TCP Network Latency Issue

Surfboard 5101 question
Hey guys, I'm new here, but I've had cable internet through a small local company for a long time; I even still have the original SB5101 I got years ago when I first signed up. I've never had trouble before, but recently I've been having my connection drop quite often.
I don't have cable tv, so I have an uninterrupted run of about 50 ' from the ground block on the back of my house to my modem. I replaced the ground block and cable into the house with new quad shielded RG6 about a week ago, and it seemed to help a little, but I still get frequent drops. My downstream s/n ratio runs about 42 DB, and .8 dbmV. Upstream runs about 47-48 dbmV. Sometimes when I lose internet connection, I can power cycle the modem and it will come back up. Other times, I've learned that I can go to the ground block at the back of the house, and disconnect the feed line and reconnect it, and the modem will reconnect.
Any ideas what might be causing my problem?

A bug with most "Surfboard" modems?
I have a http://www.netduma.com router which has a very crazy market... Gamers. However it uses QOS to give gamers a better connection in busy households and it works well for that. Recently I purchased a SB6141 to replace my old and failing TM822G. After months and months of trying to figure out why sometimes devices in my house followed the QOS rules I set and sometimes they didn't, I narrowed it down to the SB6141. Today I switched back to the TM822G and all my problems went away. Is this a bug with most "Surfboard" modems?
It seems to do the same when I use my Asus RT-N56U and try to use QOS. Sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. For example, I could upload to YouTube on my wired PC with Chrome and my ping stays low as expected, but if I upload with Firefox my ping spikes and causes lag while gaming. If I do the same test with both routers on the TM822G I can upload and download without any major spikes in my ping while gaming. Which is exactly what is supposed to happen.

SB6141 not connecting to network
I recently had an issue with my SB6141. It appeared to be working, but it didn't appear to affiliate and register with the CMTS. The cable company diagnosed the problem as a failed cable modem (it wasn't)
I rented a Technicolor modem from them until I could afford a SB6190. The 6190 uses the same 12V 1A switched mode power supply, so I tried to reuse it. It's ran through zip ties for cable management so I didn't feel like digging the old one out. When I went to power the SB6190 on, the exact same thing happened. It lit up and seemed to refuse to affiliate just like the 6190.
I checked the power output of the SMPS and it was putting out 12.12 volts under no load, but it was unable to produce the current required by the 6141 or the 6190. The power supply went bad.
I threw out a perfectly good SB6141 over what was a bad power brick. I even remembered checking the brick with a Fluke 117 before I threw it out and the voltage was perfect. Running the power supply across a 12 Ω resistor, the voltage dropped to 8. Bad SMPS brick
Just wanted to let everyone know that before you throw out a perfectly good modem, try it with another known working power supply. It probably isn't the modem.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Placing an Arris NVG448BQ Gateway into Bridge or IP Passthrough mode

The title says what I need.
I have an NVG448BQ gateway, but I want to use it purely as a modem for Internet. I don't see anything obvious on the config screens.
Can it be done?

Arris announces DOCSIS 3.1 modems
DOCSIS 3.1 models announced today, expected availability sometime in 2016.
http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/arris-unveils-next-generation-docsis-31-modems-300157703.html
Touchstone CM8200 - This ultra-fast DOCSIS 3.1 modem delivers unprecedented data rates of more than 5 Gbps downstream and 2 Gbps upstream. Switchable filters with full 204MHz upstream and 1218MHz downstream support reliable gigabit performance, while reducing interference in the home network.
SURFboard® SB8200 Cable Modem - This modem offers the same DOCSIS 3.1 performance and features as the CM8200, but is intended for retail customers, who can take advantage of its 32x8 QAM channel bonding capabilities on DOCSIS 3.0 cable systems.http://www.multichannel.com/news/cable-tv-conventions/arris-launches-docsis-31-modems/394450
Arris declined to comment on which silicon provider is powering its new line of D3.1 CPE gear. Broadcom, Intel and STMicroelectronics are among those that are developing D3.1 modem chipsets.
...
In a recent interview, Arris director of product management Steve Krapp said the E6000 is software-upgradable to D3.1 in the downstream direction, adding that the vendor plans to introduce a new line card in 2016 that will support a D3.1-based upstream.Edit: now on the front page as well https://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Arris-Releases-its-First-DOCSIS-31-Modem-135352

Provisioned correctly and great signal, but slow speed!?
My surfboard 6141 is provisioned correctly and all the signals are great. I attached an image of the signals.
I should have 100 down and 10 up, but have been experiencing about 10 down and three up connected by ethernet to the modem for two days now. By wifi it is the same. I have power cycled several times.
I also attached my log which you will see a few power cycles on.
I have PenTeleData and contacted their customer support, and obviously they are saying that everything looks good on their end. They show no area problems and the load in my neighborhood is low. They put me on an audit watch on their end and will review it tomorrow. When I talk to them tomorrow I'd like to have a little bit more information from all of you smart folk.
Question is, since the signal is great why am I experiencing a slow speed? Anyone have any ideas?
